Jonathan Mainwaring
Jonathan was born in Swansea in 1971, and started to play the trumpet at the age of twelve, when he ran away to the circus. After he dismantled the big top in Cardiff one evening he decided he would stay and study the Trumpet further at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.
After Graduating in 1993 Jonathan began to work as a freelance trumpet player. He appears regularly with Welsh National Opera and he has also recorded with them on numerous occasions both for television and C.D. Jonathan has worked for many broadcasting companies including BBC, HTV, and S4C. He has also worked in many prestigious concert halls, in both this country and Europe, including The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
As well as playing professionally, Jonathan juggles his busy lifestyle with running Curriculum Theatre Productions, an Educational Theatre group working in Primary schools throughout South Wales. As if this isn’t enough, he’s also kept very busy clowning around with his two young daughters, who are far more challenging than any job!
