Alan Hathaway
Alun was born and bred in the brewing capital of the world, Burton upon Trent. From an early age he showed a keen interest in Percussion and was performing
with local music ensembles from the age of 5. As he progressed Alun become a member of the National Youth Brass Band and National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain and at the age of 16 became a member of the world famous Fodens Brass Band.
In 1997 Alun moved to Cardiff to study Orchestral Percussion and Drum Kit at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Since graduating, Alun has worked as a freelance percussionist. He is often seen performing with orchestras, function bands, brass bands, jazz and big bands across the region.
Alun tutors percussion at Haberdashers Monmouth School for Boys. He is also a founder member of Fusion Percussion Ensemble, a group that performs in concert halls and schools to promote percussion to young people.
Alun has shown his versatility while performing with Wormshead Brass by playing nearly every percussion instrument under the sun including a 15" car wheel!
